Crafting shouldn't be sexualized

I believe everyone is entitled to live as they choose and love whom they will. However, I neither believe that any one lifestyle choice has the right to force their opinions and beliefs on others, nor do I care to be lectured to. I also choose not to be confronted with BDSM imagery and sex toys on the main sign in page TO A YARN CRAFTING SITE as a demonstration of "inclusivity", "wokeness" and "LGBTsupport" during pride month. The Ravelry admins are letting their personal causes, interests, and lifestyles interfere with running their business by continuing to exclude, alienate, and lecture. Enough drama; I'm out.

A knitting site for Dixiecrats by Dixiecrats.

Ravelry is a website where knitters, designers and yarn manufacturers can connect. I was a member of Ralvery for about 5 years, at first I only used it rarely but as I became more involved, I was increasingly uncomfortable with it. There was this undertone to the place that peeked through every now and again. White girls. Lots of white girls. Lots of very liberal white girls. Then lots of very liberal, very racist white girls who were, as only racist liberal white girls can be, completely oblivious to how very condescending and very racist they were. You see, they see you and I as their pets. Their property to protect. Their activism is that of self-aggrandizement which in another age could have been best represented by the Kipling poem "White (wo)Man's Burden".
Now I never voted for Trump. I found him divisive and bombastic. But when Ravelry publicly slurred everyone who didn't share R's political perspective and said those (including POCs) that disagreed were not welcome on Ravelry, it was an easy choice for this sister. I went.
Never missed them either. Between pattern books from the library, the Internet Archive for knitting magazines, my LYS (who confesses privately they can't stand how Ravelry has smeared the knitting world with their gross politicization, but can't say anything for fear of retaliation) and buying direct from designers, I can't say I've ever felt inconvenienced by dropping R.
And I've kept my integrity, so that makes me feel nice. One tip though, if you do decide to buy patterns direct from designers, let them know why. Maybe you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I have been at their reaction. What they will tell you! It's like letting air out of a balloon!:)
You need Ravelry like you need a narcissistic coven of uninformed Klanwives telling you what they will permit you to think.

Ravelry is amazing

Ravelry is amazing. I have found so many patterns, gotten ideas, and learned from their articles. I keep an my patterns that I get from my subscription to interweave organized there and live the search function.

Used to be a very good site

Used to be a very good site, no longer, imported all my patterns across to lovecrafts , cannot stand the new ravelry, and there are now some very nasty individuals on there, which is a shame .
When did knitting become political ?
I made an innocent comment on a forum, and had people back me up, message me to say how wrong it all was, apparently I was a white racist, tone policing individual. Not quite sure why they thought I was white, but hey ho !
I also got a headache within minutes of accessing site to remove patterns, like many others I pretty please asked them to not remove the classic rav. They don’t care, they deserve to collapse as a company

Nauseatingly "woke

I'm a rather politically moderate person, not American, not living in North America. Ravelry lost me as a customer with it's non-stop push of super left-wing agenda. Why must there be gay and trans flags at every turn? Why did they ban patterns or write-ups supporting one political party/ candidate and not another? I used to visit the site for information about yarn, reviews of knitting patterns etc. but having to wade through endless socio-political commentary (even the commentary that I agree with) became too much. Enough is enough.

Oh, and as an aside, I am able to access my account from my android phone but with exact same sign-in information, I cannot sign in on my laptop. This technical glitch was the last straw. Bye, gurl!

Lazy, stupid, and preoccupied

Does anyone else get an introduction about "the size of the human assh**e and how a racoon could fit up inside it when they access the Ravelry thread "Lazy, stupid, and godless"? I was thrashed by one of the moderators for "thread $#*!*ing" and just wonder if this what everyone else sees when they check out this forum on Ravelry. Is it funny or clever? I don't think so. Seems offensive and posted by someone who is strangely preoccupied. Lazy,... is billed as a sometimes wild forum but is primarily woke and conformist.

Being new to the site I excitedly…

Being new to the site I excitedly asked a member if she would share a pattern I liked.
I then received a scathing reprimand from an Administrator on how selfish I was for trying to steal a pattern which someone wrote and has to be paid for etc. she then blocked me from dec to Jan.
I looked the admin up and she was quite old and her face was as dour as her entry to me
I won’t use Raverly again and will put off anyone that asks me about it!

Hypocrites. I was on Ravelry since they began. They like to say they are all inclusive yet they discriminate against American Patriots who support the President of the United States simply because they do not support the current administration's political views. Their behavior is despicable. How ironic that they tout they are all inclusive but have chosen to cause divide in our knitting community over untrue statements regarding those who do not share the same views. Now they seem to be turning on the supporters that were left on the site when the Trump supporters left. Seems they thrive on drama.

Customer beware

This once was a fun website for knitters to share patterns, ideas, and etc. Then the owners decided to let their political leanings take over and turned on anyone who disagreed with them. After losing a bunch of users due to that, they then reformatted their site which made it inaccessible to people with vision issues, epilepsy, migraines, etc, and were rude to anyone who complained. It is truly a non-customer friendly site with a toxic undertone.

I love this site!

I've been using Ravelry for as long as I've been knitting. It has loads of free patterns so what's not to love. Contrary to some recent reviews, I have not found the site to be "hateful". Those complaining are upset that Ravelry decided to ban overtly pro-Trump patterns. I, for one, applaud this decision and see it as an attempt to remove hate, not add it.

As a new user I was amazed how hateful…

As a new user I was amazed how hateful many of the people are there. Especially when it comes to politics. The first thing I read was the community guidelines section and the first thing it mentioned was being inclusive and not tolerating hate speech. They clearly do not practice what they preach. The vitriol is off the chart hateful. These people are very unhappy and totally eaten up with hate for their neighbors.

A super Micro managing site

They have quite a number of nonsense limitations in the way you post the picture of your craft pattern (eg: you can't have the word ‘pattern' in your picture!?). And they will have a person to edit your post to Their liking, and the way they leave you a ‘advice' for editing is just RUDE! Dear my young crafter friends, stay away from them if you can (their community is mostly middle aged anyway).

Thanks for continuing to support the hardworking artists who continue to support a safe, white-supremacy-free community on Ravelry! But without an account, there's no way to see your library anymore.

How interesting that I answered this question several hours ago, but now *POOF* my answer has magically disappeared.

WHICH PROVES MY ASSERTION.

This site is helping Ravelry suppress opposing points of view. What that means is, this site is not objective and cannot be trusted for accurate information concerning the businesses that are reviewed.

Just posted mine and would assume that the same thing will happen here too. Not surprised.

Can you point to any reviews that are actually doing that?

Laura J., the negative reviews are also objective. They have been posted by real people such as me, reporting real experiences past and present. True assessment of a company needs both sides of the story. If the negative reviews disappear again, it would imply someone from Ravelry is exerting undue influence over SiteJabber. There was mention in an answer to a similar question about some people a "Boycott Ravelry" group using fake names and addresses to post fake reviews. I was not a member of that group, and know some of the people posting reviews since the initial ones were deleted. We are not fake. We speak the truth, whether you want to hear it or not.

Honest reviews of Ravelry are being posted. The best reviews of a product or service are objective reviews.

This has nothing to do with Ravelry. Sockmatician is receiving feedback on a post he wrote and then heavily edited.

Please note - Sockmatician has put up "The Truth" on YouTube. I believe what he says as the leftists are on a search and destroy mission. These people have no problem destroying people's lives and incomes. Yet - they say they are tolerant and love everyone. People throughout the world have to stand up to these people. I'm glad the Sockmatician is back and fighting them.
